While many of us are deeply grateful to rely on online ministries like the Sunday livestreams of the Metropolitan Tabernacle, we often remain disconnected from other like-minded viewers living locally.This network is a simple, grassroots tool to help isolated Reformed Baptists find one another by county, with the ultimate goal of establishing local prayer meetings, fellowship, and Sunday watch groups.A Note on Our Heart for the Local Church: We fully believe in the vital importance of the local church. This directory is not designed to pull believers away from healthy local congregations, but is a pastoral provision strictly for those who are already geographically isolated without a local church home that holds to historic confessional standards and reverent worship.Why the 1689 Confession & Reverent Worship?
We are frequently asked why we place such a definitive emphasis on historic confessional standards and traditional, reverent worship. We do not do so out of a spirit of elitism, nor do we undervalue the work of faithful evangelical churches across the UK.However, for an increasing number of believers, these are not mere "secondary preferences", they are matters of deep biblical conviction and conscience.Spiritual vs. Aesthetic Worship: True worship must be strictly “in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24). We reject the modern shift toward "aesthetic worship," which treats corporate praise as a musical performance or an artistic production to please the senses. In biblical worship, words and doctrinal thoughts are everything; music exists solely to assist the lips, not to substitute for the heart.Rational vs. Ecstatic Worship: Scripture commands that all things be done “unto edifying” (1 Cor 14:26), the building up of the understanding. True spiritual joy is a voluntary response of the soul to majestic biblical truths grasped by the mind. We object to "ecstatic worship," which uses worldly rhythms, repetitive choruses, and musical sentimentality to bypass the intellect and manipulate the emotions.The Regulative Principle: We hold strictly to the biblical conviction that we must only bring to God in worship what He has explicitly commanded in His Word, asking with Isaiah, “Who has required this at your hand?” This is a matter of solemn obedience, not personal taste.Rejecting the "Lone Ranger" and "Common-Law" Church: While we stand firm on these truths, we completely reject the delusion that an isolated believer can live a healthy Christian life behind a TV screen. Scripture never intended us to be "little Lone Ranger Christians." We firmly warn against a "common-law relationship" with Christ's church where an individual wants to consume the benefits of preaching without formally committing to a local body, bearing the burdens of others, or submitting to local oversight.This directory exists precisely to get believers off the screen and into the real world. Our goal is to help scattered evangelicals find one another locally, take on the joyful burdens of membership, and lay the groundwork for faithful, historic 1689 church plants where their spiritual gifts can be fully exercised.Our Standards & Defining Principles
